Hotflush Recordings kicks off a celebration of 20 years in the business with a collaboration which has been in the works for that long - Scuba links with dubstep pioneer Distance.
Greg Sanders aka Distance is one of Dubstep’s most vital artists and a key player in Hotflush’s nascent label days. Paul Rose (aka Scuba) met Sanders at Plastic People’s iconic FWD>> night, and they’d both go on to be residents of the then-pirate station Rinse FM.
Distance’s ‘Nomad / 3rd Choice’ 12” was the second ever release on the imprint, following Spectr’s ‘Red Hot / Motion’ (an alias of Rose’s) which kicked off the label in the summer of 2003.
A year label the artist would drop further heat on Hotflush with ‘Empire / 1 On 1’, before going on to release albums on the legendary Planet Mu and set up his influential Chestplate imprint, issuing dubstep classics such as ‘V’, ‘Night Vision’, and his remix of Mala’s seminal ‘Changes’.
Two decades on from their first meeting, the duo link for a long-overdue first collaboration, ‘Opposites’. The cut harks back to dubstep’s fledgling pre-2006 sound and is a low-slung, atmosphere-rich beast.

Love these guys! Two brothers from Munich, DE, making really great, forward-thinking techno. This is their debut LP, and first ever solo outing on vinyl. Some absolutely amazing tracks on here. Scuba
This album is absolute massive. Massive respect Skream! I think I will play the tunes in my radio show (Dawn Tempo) many many times. Big respect. DST DST
Dirty and deconstructed electronic music with real humanity and emotion at it's heart, haunting vocals, stunning ambience and detailed, free-formed production Didi
